1. About this policy
Leaf Player is developed by Xiaochen Cui (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Leaf Player app, this website, and information you provide when contacting us. It explains what is processed on your device, what is exchanged with services you choose, and what information we may receive.
Leaf Player does not require a developer-operated account or route your media through a developer-operated media server. We do not use your media activity for advertising, sell personal information, or build advertising profiles.
2. Your media and library
The app accesses media and folders you import, select, or make available through a connected source. This can include file names and paths, file and folder identifiers, media contents, subtitles, artwork, technical metadata, and information supplied by your media server. It uses this information to browse, play, resume, organize, and make media available offline.
Library records, playback positions, favorites, playlists, settings, downloaded media, and caches are stored on your device. Artwork and metadata may be read from your files or requested from the source that supplies them. Connected providers receive the requests needed to deliver their files and services. Media you choose to play is not uploaded to our servers.
3. Connected services and permissions
Connecting a cloud account, network share, or media server involves communicating with that provider or server. It may receive your IP address, sign-in information, requested file identifiers, and other request information. Its own privacy policy and account settings govern its processing.
- Google Drive: Leaf Player uses the
drive.filepermission to access files you select or otherwise authorize for the app. Google sign-in may also provide an account identifier and email address so the app can identify your connected account. Leaf Player uses this access for its media features; it does not create, modify, share, or delete files in your Drive. - OneDrive: Microsoft sign-in provides account information and read access to files under the permissions you authorize. Leaf Player uses these permissions to connect your account and browse or play media from the locations you add.
- Network shares and media servers: Leaf Player uses the server address and credentials you provide to request directory listings, metadata, artwork, and media. The server may record these requests or maintain its own activity history.
- Files and local transfer: The app can access locations you select through Apple’s Files interface. Wi-Fi transfer runs a receiver on your device while its transfer screen is active and saves files sent from your computer to your device.
Remote file sources are accessed read-only. Disconnecting a source in Leaf Player does not delete the original files held by the provider.
Leaf Player’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used for the media features you authorize, not advertising or unrelated profiling.
4. Credentials and device storage
Source connection details and authorization state are stored locally. Passwords and access or refresh tokens are held using the iOS Keychain or the provider’s authentication library where applicable. Authenticated remote playback may use a local service inside the app on your device; this is not an Internet relay operated by us.
Device backups, Files providers, operating-system services, and your connected accounts may store or synchronize information according to their settings. This policy does not change how those services operate.
5. Purchases and subscriptions
Apple processes App Store payments. Leaf Player receives transaction and subscription information through Apple’s purchase system, such as product identifiers, purchase and expiration dates, and entitlement status, to enable paid features and restore purchases. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
Apple may provide the developer with sales, financial, and app-performance reports under Apple’s terms and your applicable settings. Apple’s own privacy policy governs its collection and processing.
6. Diagnostics and support
The app creates local technical records to diagnose playback, source, performance, and stability problems, including crash or hang information supplied by the operating system. These records can contain device and app details, events, file names or paths, source information, and playback or connection state. They are not an advertising or behavioral analytics service and are not routinely uploaded to a developer-operated diagnostics service.
If you contact us, we receive your email address, message, and any screenshots, files, or diagnostic records you choose to share. We use them to answer you, investigate issues, and maintain the app. Support correspondence is processed by the email services used to deliver and store it. Apple may separately make crash or diagnostic reports available under its own settings and policies.
7. Website and external links
Visiting this website sends ordinary connection information, such as an IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time, to the website’s hosting provider. The provider may process logs to deliver the site and operate its service. The website does not include advertising trackers or a separate behavioral analytics script.
Links to the App Store, Reddit, Apple’s license agreement, or other external websites take you to services governed by their own policies. Contacting us by email uses your chosen email service.
8. Use, disclosure, and retention
We use information we receive to provide requested support, operate the website, maintain the app, meet legal obligations, and handle disputes. Where applicable law requires a legal basis, this processing relies on providing the service you request, our legitimate interests in operating and maintaining it, compliance with legal obligations, or your consent where required.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Information we hold may be processed by providers that deliver hosting or email services, or disclosed where legally required. Any handling of Google user data remains subject to the Limited Use requirements described above.
Local library information remains until you remove it or the app removes it as part of the relevant feature. Caches and diagnostic records may be rotated or cleared. We retain support correspondence only for as long as reasonably needed to respond, investigate related issues, and meet legal or recordkeeping obligations; backup copies may remain until the relevant backup cycle expires. Service providers may process information in countries other than yours under their own applicable arrangements.
9. Your choices and requests
You can remove sources and local content using the app’s available controls. You can revoke connected-account access through the provider, including Google account permissions. Removing the app removes its app-container data, but provider authorization, Keychain items, independently stored files, backups, and Apple purchase records may remain. Manage those through the relevant device or service settings. Deleting the app does not cancel an App Store subscription.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information we hold, or to object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a relevant authority. Contact us to make a request. We may need to verify that it concerns your information. We cannot directly inspect or erase a library stored only on your device or records independently controlled by Apple or a source provider.
10. Changes and contact
We will update this policy when our practices change and revise the date above. Material changes will receive additional notice where required. If a new use of information requires consent, we will request it before that use begins.
